Barang Beggar on the Streets of Cambodia
Re: Barang Beggar on the Streets of Cambodia
Pretty Good actually --- really captures the insecurity, self-denial, and hypocrisy of the materialistic, backslapping nature so many live.vladimir wrote:I wrote this now, because people with no compassion annoy me. It's not great poetry, but it's true.
Stained
Just like you
Your parents were
(Obviously)
Of sufficient,
Even superior
means
No one
In your family
Ever made
An unwise move
You are of noble birth and
Much-posted worth
Today you bestride the Turd-World small pond like a colossus
Acknowledging your time of need
Or that others bleed
Is an inconvenient
Truth
Those needy times, or sordid climes
Were not really you
And so few know…just deny
As company backslappers laugh when you buy another round
And the classiest company at
The fashionable bar abound
The terrifying hound of truth
Stalks…
And reminds you of your
Humble roots
Cast such fear aside,
Credit cards will suffice.
Won’t they?
Taxi, we'd rather walk. Huddle a doorway with the rain dogs
The Rum pours strong and thin. Beat out the dustman with the Rain Dogs;

This guy is from Switzerland - a very wealthy country, but the cost of living is through the roof there. If he's here, maybe it's because he can't afford to live in his own country.
I met a Swiss guy who was retired and living in Kenya. He said he couldn't afford to live in Switzerland on his pension. He was an ex-dairy farmer and cheesemaker.
