Has a Cambodian ever said something that stopped your in your tracks or made your jaw drop?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Younger sister was punishing missus with guilt. Because missus refused to loan her 10,000 dollars to be paid back in full in a week. Apparently some believe that loaning money brings face to the lender.

Now missus is undergoing epic karmic suffering by holding on to 10,000 dollars.

F- that. A loan is almost always seen as a gift and never getting it back. Esp since your wife is married to a foreigner etc. People who owe money will come with all sorts of rationalizations and wrap themselves into a pretzel as to why they don't need to or can't pay back

Many times if someone asks for a loan- say 50 bucks or whatever- I would give them 15 or 20 and say just keep it. Usually they appreciate that and i dont gotta hear any more shit about it.
Manhattan keeps on making it, Brooklyn keeps on taking it

A friend asked if she could borrow $60. I said "what is it for, your sick Buffalo?" she laughed but when she gave it back that was what she said to me.
