Kicking the habit

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I stopped 9 years ago. I just told myself "no more", and that was that although I only smoked at most, half a pack a day.

I still get the cravings, but funny enough, keeping my hands busy and inhaling other toxic fumes like exhaust and carb cleaner have kept me more than happy enough as is. The cravings my never go away, but after the third day I realized I could resist as long as I wanted and that was comforting for me and kept me off ever since.

Personally I enjoy a good snort of carb cleaner, it gets right back into the sinuses. Actually coffee is my greatest addiction, although I've had to deal with a fondness for codeine a few times. I hadn't really given much thought recently to my relationship with coffee - I have a 3-cup plunger a day - until our Khmer manager asked me the other day if I shake and get angry when I don't have it.

I stopped smoking by switching to e-cigarettes. Three months of that + 1 pack of nicorette gum over the course of another month and I stopped. That was around 2 years ago and haven't had a cigarette since. Prior to that, I had smoked for around 9 years. I know they're illegal in the kingdom, but you can PM me and I'll tell you where to get them.
