Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan were an existential threat to America’s existence. Vietnam was a sideshow, not an existential threat. The US wasn’t planning to occupy all of North Vietnam or bomb the country flat (see German and Japanese cities) and or use nuclear weapons on Hanoi in order to win.
Hamas and the terrorists are an existential threat to Israel’s existence. Their first condition for peace is the wiping out of the nation of Israel and killing every last Jew. Then the great Satan (Americans) before ushering the world Caliphate of peace.
The war will continue, more will die.

This whole situation is just…sad
The soldier in me admires the work and the results of a very targeted strike - out of thousands of devices, a tiny percentage hit innocent victims, and it was a plan executed *flawlessly* at a technical level
And
It’s another escalation between two groups who cannot lift their heads and see any other option than more killing.
I am truly sad
I stand for Israel’s right to exist. Peacefully, as a good neighbor. I *also* stand for the right of those forcefully evicted from Israel and their descendants to have a home. This last is a blot on the record of every country in the vicinity - Israel for kicking them out, and the neighbors for not taking them in.
Honestly, as I’ve looked at this over time, both sides have a list of legitimate grievances, and neither side has ever seriously sat down to find a middle path to address them.
This is a generational conflict, carried forward almost out of habit.
Kids in both sides are raised to become radical adults, while those who simply want the basic human needs of a secure space to live and raise their families are made functionally voiceless and irrelevant.
Both sides see this as existential and each sees the other side as something less than human, undeserving of even basic human decency
The way out of this is for both sides to soften their hard lines and truly talk/negotiate with the best interests of both their people and the common descendants of those people.
Sadly, I don’t see this happening any time soon

G got to be careful, there's tons of folks out there monitoring all of these message boards and forwarding the appropriate posts to a certain email address.
I I mean look at it this way if you take the position that anybody who expresses Hitlerite babble is a existential threat to Jewish people, then it would be justified to individually take them out.
I think cars is the next thing. Post something on a message board cheering on the murder of Jews, then when you head out to the bar to celebrate your car runs you into a tree.

Their best hope is to become Israelis and join a real democracy and get their voices heard and leaders who will really represent them.
