I use anna's archieve for downloads and calibre for conversions and I've never had a problem.

Despite the convenience reading on a tablet is a really sub par experience. I recently read a trilogy that became my favourite work of sci-fi and I could barely remember the name of each book or when certain characters or scenes took place because I never looked at a cover or spine before or after reading. I didn't even notice that the 3rd book was twice the length of the 2nd. Once I've finished a digital book it fades from my consciousness immediately since there's no physical object on my shelf to remind me about it.
Scarier than malaria.

For those looking to create collections or simply find interesting titles, I highly recommend this website of book lists, "The Greatest Books of All Time"...

It has a main list with over 9,000 titles, plus subsidiary lists on various topics and also short lists from specific sources. The site creator uses an algorithm to create the main list...
