Taiwanse Man Arrested at Phnom Penh International Airport for Trying to Smuggle 5 Kilos of Meth to Japan
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): Phnom Penh Municipal Court's spokesperson confirmed on the afternoon of March 13, 2024, that following an investigation into individuals linked to drug-related crimes, charges have been formally brought against them. Offenses such as drug trafficking, storage, transportation, and illegal drug use are punishable under Articles 40 and 45 of the Law on Drug Control.
Authorities at Phnom Penh International Airport's departure terminal apprehended a Chinese-Taiwanese passenger aboard flight K6-818 destined for Japan on the night of March 10, 2024. Upon examination, Cambodian Customs and Excise officials discovered 35 packages of white powder concealed on the body of the Taiwanese individual. Subsequent testing confirmed the substance to be methamphetamine weighing 4,965.30 grams (nearly 5 kilograms), intended for shipment to Japan.
After conducting thorough inspections and tests in coordination with the Prosecutor's Office of Phnom Penh Municipal Court, the suspects, exhibits, and related materials were transferred to the Anti-Drug Crime Department for further legal proceedings and management.
A press release shared on Facebook by representatives from the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia on March 11, 2024, highlighted the success of efforts to combat illegal drug smuggling activities to Japan.
The Taiwanese individual is currently in custody pending further investigation by an assigned judge on the evening of March 13.

That's some fucking lame 1970s Midnight Express-style smuggling there.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

And he had to change planes at Saigon and go through security again like that.

It's such a roulette move it makes me wonder.... What if it's just a game in Taiwan, sending mules here and there, and betting on which mule makes it to the destination ? The amount of money on bets possibly far superior than the value of the drug smuggled, and all benefits when the mules arrives safely.
A "Squid Game" kind of life for the mule, a fancy game, an extra dimension of business, and an opportunity to make it up for a loss, for the players.

Likewise, smuggler-kings can compete for top mule success rates. Whoever gets the most through wins a bottle of tequila.
That tape job on his torso was terribly done. He should watch some Martin Scorsese movies.

He could have just been thrown into this situation as a distraction from other operations. It seems highly unprofessional for any drug smuggler to even attempt this. The security in Phnom Penh airport seems quite lax but most other destinations have crazy body scanners and other ways to figure out if you are smuggling.Ghostwriter wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 10:53 pm It's such a roulette move it makes me wonder....
