Dumb foreigner thread

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I would have asked if I could help.
Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.

I frequent the coffee shop practically on a daily basis. All the staff speak pretty good English. If I'd have intervened I'd have spoiled the fun for them all laughing at the crazy western woman. Even the staff member dealing with her had trouble keeping a straight face.

They all seem like quite a close-knit team. If her colleagues felt she needed a hand, they'd have intervened themselves. They certainly didn't need me to intervene and spoil the fun.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never allow the dumb ones to lead the pack.

Yes , it is woman’s day and so no school today .
Is that because most of the teachers are women who need a break ?

It's because Cambodia made it a public holiday, for whatever reason. Laos did so as well, and it took me by surprise once when I visited.

Celebrate women having the right to work by taking the day off. Brilliant.

That's not what this day is about.

And what about transgenders, do they get half a day off ???
And who gets the morning off, and who gets the afternoon off ??
As many woman have bad mornings, probably better give the "female-trangender" the morning, no ??

You might be overthinking this a bit.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
