Re: Pissontheroof's Thread
What’s the betting that the condensed final opinion is guiding the opinion or decision making, which without the context of a full report, takes on a different meaning.
I come across this a lot. For decades, even. Before, in engineering, and still now, in aviation.
Writing a report that anybody but ones most bookish peers will find interesting is difficult enough.
To write a decent foreword or decent conclusion that is short enough for the uninitiated manager/politician/journo to give enough time to read, gives enough information to inform without leading to misinformation must be a special talent.
Plastics degrade with time. Don’t ask me how much time is needed, or other specific conditions because I don’t know, exactly. But plastics go brittle, break more easily, lose elasticity, bend, break, crease and crack.
Many are susceptible to UV damage.
Many goods, packaging, etc have care instructions. Such as not storing in direct sunlight. Temperatures, etc.
I reuse plastic bottles a lot. The very flimsy plastics, not at all. Stronger bottles such as 2lt water bottles, a lot, although mainly for bulking out the fridge and freezer instead of lots of frozen air space.
, et al. More frequently, quite a few times. But they get recycled pretty quickly, too. Especially as it’s a Khmer habit to separate bottle and cap, rendering both useless.

NO MORE - PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES ! Here ..
Hello I was admonished for writing about water bottles here , it
was just something on my mind , yesturdday.
This is more relevant to here:
post618265.html?hilit=Die%20with%20zero#p618265
I said I will stick to the facts here on this thread , I want to say I have been working on other things than the embassy here .
and hope I have time to do what has to be done in my lifetime.
Trying to access to my government life insurance that I almost forgot about .
They are in a different time zone and my phone don't have any toll free minutes ,
And getting thru I found if you hold the zero on iPhone it makes it + ++1 1 800 number works sometimes
Plenty of “error” messages getting thru to me on iPads . Something wrong here or there .
and I made contact to the “crisis line “ no problem Which helped alot !
A major thing i must do here is who will be the. “ breadwinner “ as far as who will be in charge of the little buggers bank acct.
A nieghbor told me i should check and see what the stance is about minor survivors at Acleda bank . So I should do that .
If I do not find a way then hoping to hear a way to do it any way not involving an exorbitant lawyer . Which is the ABA way .

Re: Pissontheroof's Thread
The more UV the faster they degrade. The PVC water pipes for example get brittle and hard here within a season or two of direct sunlight and they give off a whitish chalky residue - I'm not sure if oxidization is the correct term here but it's similar - and they get brittle to the point of falling apart after four or five yearsFreightdog wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 11:29 pm

Shopping bags will fall apart like ashes after a year or so of sunlight, even buried ones become brittle and thinner fairly quickly - but the material that they leach or oxidize or w/e remain plastic and enter water tables, plant and animal matter and then go further into the food chain
I doubt that there are many populations of humans left on the planet that haven't ingested microplastics over the last five decades or thereabouts, including all of us
That's before even thinking about other introductory sources of microplastics in our lives - teflon coated kitchenware anybody?

newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 11:13 pm Taiwan is nuts over plastics leaking into food. Had exposes on them years ago when I was last there.
Plastic containers for everything, bad. Even the plastic to wrap food, bad. Only metal or glass.
In a way I’m glad to bring up this topic .
Does Taiwan use 20 liter water bottles over and over again ?
I know they do here and I know they do it in the land of smiles
Somebody would have spoken up by now if it was harmful . I’m justifying;
It really can’t be all that bad to reuse a sturdy oishi tea bottle for jr.’s backpack water everyday
Other wise I would be losing those ( at least ) $1 refillable sport bottles the kids use here all the time
whenever he loses it . But I do not see other kids doing the same .

Per AI summary:
“As of 2022, having one's own drink bottle, reusable meal box and cutlery, and multi-use shopping bags has become fashionable nationwide in Taiwan.

Taipei's Plastic-Free Revolution (TAIPEI Quarterly 2022 Winter Vol.30)
Dec 12, 2022 — These moves put Taiwan at the forefront of the international call to reduce plastic waste, and indeed having one's own drink bottle, reusable meal box and cutlery, and multi-use shopping bags has become fashionable nationwide.
Taiwan has committed to banning single-use plastic by 2030, including a flat-out ban on single-use bags, utensils, straws, and containers. As of 2025, all stores in Taiwan cannot provide plastic bags, disposable utensils, straws, and single-use cups for free.
Taiwan also has a plastic recycling plant in Nantou County that can process up to 40,000 tons of post-consumer plastics every year.”

Nobody ever came back from the dead and said they didn’t want to be dead .
Thier worldly problems are over ..
your death might be o.k, when youre dead you dont know youre dead .
It affects others - In my case it will affect a young dependent.
The embassy is quiet on my question to them of what will happen to my little boy .
Another poor Cambodian orphan .
