Cost of living poll.

Post by Kung-fu Hillbilly »

I think the cost of living question deserves to be asked on a regular/yearly basis as it can generate some interesting insights into how others are living in Cambodia. Of course everyone's circumstances are different whether they be married with children, living a simple life gone native, or Hollywooding it as a single guy/gal on the town in Phnom Penh every night, however..

How much does living in Cambodia cost you each month? Has it become more expensive for you the past year?

January 2023 results.

Mostly same as 2023.

Probably around $1500 for everything living related, place to stay and happy stomach.
Then whatever else I have to spend on having fun while shortening my life span :thumb:
Money can't buy happiness but it can buy beer

Living in the countryside in a village without western restaurants or bars, my expenses are low. I have my house on a nice piece of land, so my basic monthly fees including electricity, phone, wifi and visa + work permit (500/12 = 42 dollars) are around 70-75 USD. Average $15 for gasoline. Then i cook at home, drink some beers but with many winning ringpulls.
I've just come back this morning from a week roadtrip to Mondulkiri - Ratanakiri - Stung Treng - Kratie and, even with those expenses, i'm not sure to reach the $500 this month !

If I did not need a rock-star kitchen for the show and pool/gym/spa (for physical therapy) ... I would live easily on $500-$700 per month ... Maybe less. My first three months here, I was living easily on that budget. Soon as I get on the senior tour and get some top 10s under my belt ... hello upgrades!

I did two weeks in PP recently. Admittedly a holiday. But I spent about $1k excluding flights. I reckon you could comfortably live on $1-$1.5k a month.
