Taiwanese YouTuber Chen Neng Chuan who faked his kidnapping put in Cambodia jail cell holding 150 inmates

He was sentenced to two years in prison for inciting social unrest after attempting to stage his own abduction inside a scam call centre
Taiwanese influencer “Goodnight Chicken”, who was arrested for live-streaming his own kidnapping in Cambodia, which turned out to be a fake, appears to be having a miserable time in jail now.
He was sentenced to two years in prison for inciting social unrest, reported China Press. The 31-year-old has since spent 12 days in prison and was placed in a cell along with 150 other inmates.
The place was so cramped that “Goodnight Chicken”, whose real name is Chen Neng Chuan, could only sleep in a seated position.
According to a source inside the prison, Chen, along with fellow YouTuber Lu Tsu-hsien, who was also incarcerated for the same crime, had to share a toilet that could not be flushed.
Internet users were generally unsympathetic towards Chen, thinking that he had brought this on after faking and live-streaming his “kidnapping”.
It was earlier reported that Chen live-streamed himself sneaking into a so-called scam call centre but the video was cut short when the camera fell to the ground after Chen was allegedly attacked by a man dressed in military uniform.
Chen then live-streamed again on February 13 claiming he had escaped from the scam call centre.
He claimed he was captured by several armed men who tasered him and shaved his head.
But police investigation found that he had faked the entire kidnapping and escape.
Police discovered that Chen’s crew bought props, such as military outfits, fake guns and fake blood.
The Preah Sihanouk court on February 15 jailed Chen and Lu after finding them guilty of inciting social unrest for intending to forge videos on human smuggling, torture, rape and human organ trading in Cambodia.

Idiots like these guys and Johnny Somali deserve whatever they get. Hopefully others like them take note - you can stream, walk around with your cameras and selfie sticks, even beg for money to pay your rent if you need to, just don't be a dick, because it won't always be tolerated.

There seems to have been an increase in this type of manufactured theatre which is perhaps in response to increasing demand from part of the social media addicted world needing a bigger drama or crisis each day to get off.
I'm not not condoning or excusing the Johnny Somlalis or Goodnight Chickens of the world - they're assholes. But maybe we shouldn't hate the player, maybe we should hate the game.

Not even criminals deserve to be treated like this.
And these guys may be idiots but they are not criminals

I get where you're coming from - I sort of feel that way about drug dealing, or poor poachers having to kill the last hundred rhinos to make money to feed their families, but sometimes I think it's ok to hate both the game, and everyone involved in it.Kung-fu Hillbilly wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 1:33 pm There seems to have been an increase in this type of manufactured theatre which is perhaps in response to increasing demand from part of the social media addicted world needing a bigger drama or crisis each day to get off.

With the obnoxious YouTubers, I don't know what came first - the Goodnight Chickens of the game or the eggs who pay them to go out and be arseholes, but I have a hard time accepting the 'I was just filling a niche in the market' defense for shit behaviour.

They were tried and convicted of a crime, which de facto makes them criminals. Let's stick to the language that we've agreed on in the dictionary. Why should they be treated any better than a criminal Khmer citizen?SiemReapLOL wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 1:41 pm

They ought to have checked a few Khmer prison videos before they decided to be pranksters in Cambodia.
Suck it up, boys!
With those hairstyles and skin colour, they'll likely become targets. Let's hope for their sakes that their parents can keep transferring cash regularly from Taiwan. Otherwise they're going to get reemed......
