Sihanoukville public transport
Here's the proposed routes for the Sihanoukville city public bus network:
There's already 60 Korean-made buses ready. The launch of the bus network is slated for Q4 2024.
- Blue Downtown Circle Line:
This central line runs the downtown area, making stops at 20 key locations.
- Yellow Seaport-Airport Coastal Circle Line:
Following the coastline, this route begins at the seaport and connects to Victory Beach, Independence Beach, Sokha Beach, Occheteul Beach, Otres Beach, the airport, and finally loops back to the seaport via the National Road 4.
- Red line:
Goes from Cambrew/Klang Leu Market roundabout to petroleum terminals via Prek Treng Beach.

60 buses are more than I expected. Even with 20 stops, that may allow a reasonable frequency without having to wait several hours between pickups.rogerrabbit wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 8:53 pm Here's the proposed routes for the Sihanoukville city public bus network:

Yep, the frequency should be decent. Looks good. I would think the airport-seaport connection will be popular among backpackers heading to the islands. Only odd thing is that it seems blue and red lines don't connect to each other.LamarFreddie wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 8:56 pm

Wonder if it will even work. The tuktuk mafia in Snooky used to be so strong that anything like this would never fly. Changing times and a governor with balls may see it to fruition.

Re: Sihanoukville public transport
If the buses are all ready, why no launch until Q4?
Re: Sihanoukville public transport
Training the drivers to follow the route.

Because the final decision on the lines and schedules is not yet done? And the bus stops needs to be build? Some sort of bus depot is probably needed as well.

The tuktuk mafia is dead thanks to all the ride hailing apps.johnny lightning wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 6:19 am Wonder if it will even work. The tuktuk mafia in Snooky used to be so strong that anything like this would never fly. Changing times and a governor with balls may see it to fruition.
