Commision for 1$ Cambodian beer ring pull ?
Re: Commision for 1$ Cambodian beer ring pull ?
My tuktuk driver exchanges them without commission in the villages. For me it's always 500 reil per free can.

Always use the mom n pop store around the corner from my home, usually exchange a case or twos worth at a time, no commission. Exchanged a $50 winner the other day for cash, again, no commission.

The comission is a thing for barangs. For locals or in the less visited places it's a free service to retain customers.
In my experience that is.

Are you joking/trolling?
Some branded depots will do the exchange for free, and some M&P shops might do the exchange for free if you're a frequent user of their services and spend more than just a few bucks there every week. But in general there's a charge, for Cambodians as well as foreigners.

I’ve never personally exchanged them, but my girl and her family exchange at a shop near her hometown in Phnom Penh. Couldn’t complain either way, pay $3 for a $13 case not too bad of an exchange. Still getting 18-19 beers per case for free.

As I wrote, when I've been adventuring in the villages my tuktuk driver seems to exchange them for free.
In town I always pay, possibly locals do as well I wouldn't know as I'm not one nor do I use a local proxy to exchange my winners.
It's just something I've noticed.

At risk of stating something obvious (although not mentioned in this thread) it is not necessary to trade Cambodia free beer ring pulls for another beer. I have traded for mixed cases with softdrinks, Carabao etc. as well, so these are probably as expensive - or cheaper - for the merchant.

I never really cash them in for beers, and rarely drink at home nowadays. But I end up with loads of the ringpulls from bars that I throw in a tin cup. Every month or so my son goes and cashes them all in at a place he knows that does a good rate. The "1 free beer" tabs are worth around 33 cents. It's best to put them in bunches of 24s with a small zip tie. I think they pay $8+ for 24.
