Actually, I think you’ve just confirmed your dependency. As you go on, you’ve done what many an addict does, and tried to rationalise it, and reconcile it with their perception of normal.Fridaywithmateo wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 7:03 pm Alcohol is my medicine. Without it, my sleep is disturbing or nonexistent.
Clinical evidence, through actual studies, has established how alcohol affects sleep. But, because many people barely comprehend what actual sleep entails, the old night cap to aid sleep is misunderstood. Once in a while, (moderation) sure. Habitual? Deluding one’s self to believe it’s a cure?
I’ve noticed many drinkers justify their drinking, and if it works for them great. Except, it usually doesn’t work for those around them. You’ll probably not be that interested in the response, but it might help you to look into this addiction.
There’s the short term physiological effects, such as sleep disturbance. The long term health effects, such as Korsakoff syndrome- dementia related. Effects on personal relationships, and getting into situations where you’re cracking your head on someone’s fist. But if that works for you- great.

Much more complicated than what you say ... and I agree. I consider myself a heavy drinker, but I don't get dope sick when I suddenly do stop, as many others do. I cracked my head not of a fist ... concrete wall for what it's worth.

It’s not that complicated. You either drink or you don’t.
Not sure what the difference is drinking during the day or at night is though.

When pissed, getting to sleep is actually easier, and it keeps away the dreams, for those looking for that.Freightdog wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 7:33 pm

But a sober sleep will beat a drunk one any day, at least for me.
