There is a similar trend in rural Italy. Complete ghost villages in the countryside. Some areas have started to give away house and land for 1 (one) Euro. Dont expect villas with swimmingpool, most houses will need investments/upgrades. If you are able to do some of the works yourself, this may be a great opportunity.
