This is the part of the forum where we discuss Cambodia's nightlife! While most bars, nightclubs, pubs, beer gardens, and hostess bars are in Phnom Penh, we discuss the Cambodian nightlife across all of Cambodia, including Siem Reap, Kampot, and Sihanoukville. The main nightlife areas in Phnom Penh are on Street 136, Street 130, Street 110 and Street 51, but there are other party spots that aren't girlie bars where expats, tourists, and locals drink until the sun comes up. Feel free to post specials and promotions that relate to nighttime fun!

What is this "Lady Drink" that costs $4 anyway? A Mojito? Baileys? A B52? A Spy? Some tap water with a dribble of Coca Cola thrown in so it looks like a real drink? If someone brought their girlfriend or wife into your bar, would that someone be charged lady drink prices for some tap water with a dribble of Coca Cola thrown in so it looks like a real drink? Asking the real questions here. 8)

somewhat related I remember buying a bottle of alcohol -- either at Aeon Mall or somewhere else and I put it in the freezer.
It actually FROZE.. i was like wtf. I didn't drink it after that. No way supposed to freeze. Assume was mixed w/ water? unsure
Manhattan keeps on making it, Brooklyn keeps on taking it

If a customer brings their gf or wife in there of course it would just be a regular drink because they know each other. If you meet a lady there and want her to keep you company then a drink is customary for them to accompany you. Lady drink means beer or a well drink. Nothing fancy as we’re taking a huge haircut on drink prices to keep the ladies coming back to draw in customers.

Is there a moral objection to the business model here, or are people just arguing that it should be called a hostess bar, like any other?

What's the potential upside of continued engagement at this point? He's not exactly getting a lot of positive press out of any of the responses he's provided thus far. The people questioning his business model don't seem particularly open-minded. Not saying that there's reason that they should be, but this is clearly not working out as the OP had probably hoped.

so ur using lady drinks to draw the girls in ( cause they make $2/drink) to draw guys in, but ur NOT a girly bar>

A girly bar that does not employ ladies, ( saving you staff expenses) but makes the customer pay her, for her to drink with them.
