Re: The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann
The opening quote in the above post comes from this excellent piece
Essay
The myths of Azaria, so many
by John Bryson
https://www.griffithreview.com/articles ... a-so-many/
...We had watched this progression: a bereaved mother changed by a band of conjurors into a vile beast and cast into the dungeon, but lifted by the voices of the Little People, to again become the gentle and bereaved mother as at the beginning.
When might we be permitted to unmask the conjurors?
con jurors
not journalists

Re: The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann
I doubt you had even heard about this case until the conspiracy people got hold of it. It was hardly world news until they did. And hey presto you have all the answers.rozzieoz wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 7:19 am It's not just gossip, if you get your head our your arse and actually look into it, there is a lot that doesn't make sense about the official narrative.
People often lie to cover up accidents, especially people who have a lot to lose.
Even pretty blonde people.
Re: The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann
There seems to be some movement in this case. Given the Portugese authorities performance so far, I wouldn't hold out much hope for a conviction.
However, the timing is suspect as they are very close to being time barred:

A German man has been formally identified as a suspect in the disappearance of British toddler Madeleine McCann 15 years ago, Portuguese prosecutors have said.
Christian Brueckner, a convicted rapist, has been made an “arguido”, translated as “named suspect” or “formal suspect” who is treated by Portuguese police as more than a witness but has not been arrested or charged.
However, the timing is suspect as they are very close to being time barred:
The timing of the move could be related to Portugal’s 15-year statute of limitations for crimes with a maximum prison sentence of 10 years or more. Madeleine disappeared on 3 May 2007, while on holiday with her parents in Praia da Luz in Portugal.

Very interesting update to this story. I doubt it will change anything in the investigation but it does vindicate the Portuguese police somewhat.

PARIS, Sept 20 (Reuters) - The European Court of Human Rights ruled on Tuesday against the parents of missing British toddler Madeleine McCann, saying that Portugal had given them a fair hearing in their libel battle against a former Portuguese policeman.
The police officer, Goncalo Amaral, who worked on the investigation into Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 on a family holiday in Portugal, suggested in a book he authored, "Truth of the Lie", that the youngster's parents had been involved.
Kate and Gerry McCann sued Amaral for libel. In 2015, a Portuguese court ruled in their favour, ordering Amaral to pay them damages. Two years later the ruling was reversed by Portugal's highest court.
The parents then appealed to the European court, arguing that their right to a fair trial, right to private family life and freedom of expression had not been upheld by Portugal.
The ECHR ruling said the Portuguese judiciary had not failed in its duty to protect the rights of the McCanns and that their arguments concerning presumption of innocence were ill-founded.
"Even assuming that the applicants' reputation had been damaged, this was not on account of the argument put forward by the book's author but rather as a result of the suspicions expressed against them," the ECHR ruled.
Amaral told Reuters the decision was "a victory for justice and the Portuguese justice system and for all those who fight for freedom of expression and opinion."
Kate and Gerry McCann said they were "disappointed" with the decision in a statement via lawyer, Ricardo Correia Afonso, but added that "much has changed" since they started the proceedings. The lawyer said they would not appeal.

In the case of McCann and Healy v. Portugal the Court held that there had been no violation of the right to respect for private and family life.
The case concerned statements made by a former detective inspector – in a book, a documentary and a newspaper interview – about the applicants’ alleged involvement in the disappearance of their daughter, Madeleine McCann, who went missing on 3 May 2007 in southern Portugal. Before the Court, the applicants alleged that there had been a violation of their right to reputation and to their right to be presumed innocent. The Court found that the applicants' claim concerning the right to be presumed innocent was manifestly ill-founded.

Re: The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann
That doesn’t vindicate the police at all. His actions in writing about an ongoing case for personal gain are reprehensible. The law everywhere demonstrates its ability to be a complete ass. More importantly, the fact that he’s written a book and not been seen as contemptible by his former employers goes some way to demonstrate how little regard for victims that country has.
He has capitalised on several others suffering. I wonder if he put as much effort into the investigation as he did in writing the first draft of his new retirement plan.
There may well be legal precedent for the ruling. It’s still disgusting.
In my current and previous occupations, there have been strict clauses regarding privacy and privilege of information acquired during my employment. The fact that the police in Portugal are under no such moral restraint is almost beyond words.
Sadly, it seems consistent with the modern Twitterbook type mentality of those braying for further detail on things that don’t directly concern them.

Still no arrest, funny about that.
Lots of people have started speaking out in the last 6 months or so. Things do NOT add up in this story.
This guy has a lot to say - he's a lawyer and has all sorts of impressive qualifications and experience.
So does this guy, who is also highly qualified and quite savvy.
