I've recently used Hopper, and it claims to predict the best times to buy tickets for whichever route you are planning on taking.

I've used it for several flights lately and it's been very accurate. It will recommend to wait or buy now. My credit card (Venture X) uses Hopper, and if I buy when they say to and the price goes down further later they give a partial refund.
I wanted to give it a try but it is a mobile-only app? That means they are into your phone before you decide if they are any good.

https://www.hopper.com/ Is this the correct site?
Yeah, mobile only. That's the downside.

I made the mistake of telling them my location so every price came up in KHR and I couldn't find a way to change it. Uninstalled it shortly thereafter :D

*lol*, just go on the little man on the top left, then a menu opens. The 4th point from the top is currency...

However, I am not 100% convinced. A few hours ago I booked a flight from Jakarta to Denpasar for $45. The $42 flight was at a horrible time. Hopper tells me, that 47 is the lowest price they have seen for a long time...

Have a look into EU261 flight delay compensation.

Which airline was this?
Last year I saved a few hundred dollars per person x 3 when flying out of Bangkok, instead of Siem Reap or Phnom Penh to the UK. That was with Qatar.
Saudi Arabian Airlines. EUR 514,49 for one adult for the KUL-AMS-BKK trip. For my kid even EUR 85 cheaper.
Outbound one stop of two hours, inbound one stop of 4 hours.
My friends took the flight with Saudi AA. They said the worst flight ever (they were the only foreigners on the plane and were treated like shit)
When was that? I read pretty positive recent reviews about the airline.
Equipment new too, 787-1000, 32 inch seat pitch.... Dry airline though.

Happy to report back in early October on the experience.
As promised, my experience on flying Saudia last month. About 10 months ago I saw a bargain, KUL-AMS-BKK for about EUR 450,-. Never had flown them before, well, now I did.

The experience was a bit of a mixed bag. First, Saudia is a dry airline, and the airports are dry as well as far a I could see, so don't expect any alcoholic beverages. When I bought a beer at Amsterdam airport pre-departure they were reluctant to sell it because of this, only after I promised i would not bring it on board they handed me the beer....

The flight out of KUL was a bit of a mess. The incoming plane was about 4 hours late, so departure was delayed too, and because of that we missed our connecting flight. Bummer. But Saudia handled it pretty well. They informed me about the delay well in advance, so we could simply delay our trip to the airport. Also, before departure, they sent me a new itinerary with a changed routing through Frankfurt. Because all of this we arrived in AMS about 6 hours late. That sucked. At least we didn't have to go through the hassle of visiting a transfer desk in Saudi Arabia to be rescheduled, which usually is the case. All was taken care of in advance. Another nice touch, because we only had a very short layover due to the delay Saudia changed our seating and put us in the front of the plane out of KUL so we were amongst the first to deplane. Nice touch.

The planes were great. I have flown on three different planes with them, the 787-900, 787-1000 and a long haul Airbus A320 neo. The 787's were just lovely. Large screens, 33 inch seat pitch (really rare these days), and onboard service was OK. Nothing special, apart from the lack of alcohol. The airbus had just a 31 inch seat pitch, a large difference on longer flights, the same large screens.

The flight back was uneventful, but on the way back there was no WiFi at the connecting airport in Saudi Arabia. That sucked.

So would I recommend them. Yes. What I experienced was much different from what other airlines offer in coach. The price was.

Now I am 1000% convinced of Hopper. Why? Because they offer a cancellation or change option on ANY flight - or even both! So even if you have an AirAsia flight, you can cancel or change that one up to 3 hours before departure!! Yes, it costs a small extra fee, but since there are no [24h after booking free of charge cancellation] flights any more, this is definitely worth it, when going to countries like Indonesia or Malaysia, where a return ticket is required (most if the time, depends on the immigration officer) but you have no idea, how long your stay will be. I have read the T&C thoroughly, there are surprisingly no hooks or flaws in this service (except that it costs a fee). Just cancel/change, no reason required. Super, @General Mackevili thanks for sharing this info!

Back to being not convinced. Why? They seem to have scrapped those flight change or cancellation options - at least they don't show up on any flights I select any longer. Prices are same level or even a bit more high than elsewhere, do no reason to book here. But the main reason why I deleted the app was because of their customer service. There is only an American telephone hotline number you can call. No email, no support form, nothing, except you buy a VIP support package. Additionally they don't issue you any invoices, you just get a non binding email (if you answer to this email, you get an auto response that you need to contact their customer service for further assistance; the link they provide links to a site, that doesn't exist (404)). On the FAQs they state, it is your problem how to get a VAT invoice from the airline directly - which is of course impossible. A classic BUFU *) company. Claiming back the costs from the company for the flight without a proper bill got a serious adventure. Never, ever again!

*) Buy Us, F... You

try kiwi dot com.

i just use it to spy flights that are not with the same airline, then book it direct through the airline that is listed. These are mostly self transfer hacks, if you can stomach entering a country then leaving, and boarding again and have time to spare.

I just did this from Chiang Mai to Phnom Penh going through BKK. Never again. Not worth the discounted price. There was a mile-long line at BKK to re check our bags. Had a four hour layover and were lucky to catch the flight to Phnom Penh.
