US Homelessness Reaches All-Time High

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

People who identify as black? Who, why or how would anyone other than a black person "identify as black"?
Steve Martin as Navin Johnson in the movie The Jerk. Old school Steve Martin comedy masterpiece.

Is it $2200 or should it be about $21,000? That in Aus dollars is a bit over $32,000 and as a comparison my Australian Vet Affairs pension is just over $10,000 a year which I received after being medically discharged.
Oops. Yes

It's a kind of post-modern homelessness that we see today, meth addiction, fast food on food stamps, vinyl tents and vans for the rich... they just need more parking areas with showers and toilets, preferably outside the city center. But many of these people are victims of crime and harassed by bored police officers. And being classified as a mental health issue makes it difficult for authorities to “help” them, which is basically too late to do so in most cases.

For instance, being the child from an interracial relationship. You may be 50% black, or 25% black. At some point whether you identify as black will be affected by other things such as where you grew up or social status.

In countries where black people have certain guaranteed access (xx% of college admissions must to black people etc), they basically leave it down to whether you feel as a black person.

In most countries this has never been much of an issue to discuss though, I think.

So does that mean San Francisco is the ultimate solution to helping the homeless? They use public toilets and showers. They pee on sidewalk with cops watching them. Is this the harassment by bored police you speak of? Or does the California model simply generate more homelessness?

Asian countries allow more mixed zoning, which lowers barriers to building more housing, which increases the amount of housing available, and makes it more affordable. Even so, in the big cities, workers often have long commutes to get to and from work because of lack of affordable housing near the city center.

So those with mental health issues shouldn’t be identified as having those issues and be helped? I believe those having a psychotic outbreak can’t be treated the same way as ordinary people and the authorities need to bring in specialists.

My opinions of course to a complicated problem.
