Right until British troops landed, marched and burned the President’s House. The US President, Congress, and everyone had to flee for their lives.

The house was repainted White after being torched.
No defenses were raised because they had been beaten and had no fight in them.
The painting story is a myth as it was not called "The White House" until 1901.

But I salute you for your knowledge of American history, even if it is flawed. Most have no clue.
