Texas. Missus is Khmer. There is a Khmer community here.cabron wrote:Are U in the USA?newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 8:21 pm I’m alive. Go to see the heart surgeon next week to get dressings and sutures taken out. Then rehab. Lots of restrictions on activities and movement. Even car rides tire me out. Forget the normal daily commute and a regular work day. Moody roller coaster. Have to eat every few hours period. Sleep is shit.
Completely dependent on missus for everything, probably the first time ever. But I get to live my dreams of having the prettiest girl give me a sponge bath in the shower every day. Because I have to sit in chair and can’t reach around to clean myself.
Otherwise can’t even lift a bag of groceries. Or drive. Just keep watching the bills pile up. Feel like a useless sack of waste.
Is it just a phase? Absolutely! But it sucks living it.

Perhaps you could ask the missus to buy some tiger balm and coin you. That fixes all sorts of ailments.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 1:08 amTexas. Missus is Khmer. Tried the pain patches for the chest pain. Got nasty burn rashes from using too many patches.
It’s a phase of healing that will eventually pass. Just sucks being there. Nothing is going to speed it up.

I wish you a full recovery, newkid. Obviously it won't be a speedy one.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 8:49 pmGreat idea. You’re not wrong. First year that I was in Cambodia, the other half asked me if I’d like to try it (for some ailment that’s long forgotten)Username Taken wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 3:51 am Perhaps you could ask the missus to buy some tiger balm and coin you. That fixes all sorts of ailments.
It took my mind right off the problem…

I was in Ascension in 84/85, outstanding nightlife, the music, dancing and sex at the Carousel Club behind the hotel Guarani.Dario wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 5:31 amI wish you a full recovery, newkid. Re: What's happening in your life?
Missus’ dad died Sunday. 6 months ago, the Siem Reap referral hospital told the family he had 6 months to live. This time, they wanted to ship him to Phnom Penh and blast him with chemo. I said no.
Does that make me an a**hole?
No point in buying him a few days/week and suffer more.
Anyways, missus owes a thousand for oxygen tanks and ICU care.
He lies in a refrigerated coffin at home waiting for an auspicious day to be brought to the temple.
Then multi day, multiple funeral events according to Buddhist tradition. Of which no one else can afford to pay.
And the hits keep on coming…

If you have to ask...
Seriously though, I thought you were an asshole long before even meeting your wife, that trait doesn't suddenly fall from the sky.

Was gonna make a big bowl of guacamole … but the avocados were not quite there … so I whipped up a pot of Thai style avocado soup. Tomorrow’s dinner gonna be Mexican black beans on rice with tortilla chips and the soup.
