Female Magician "Guru" Faces Backlash in Cambodia for Disrespecting Buddhism in Controversial Act

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Cambodia News: It has come to light that a well-known female magician, who goes by the name "Guru" and claims to possess the ability to cure various illnesses, has been met with considerable criticism on social media. The uproar follows the circulation of a video clip showing the guru allegedly treating a patient in the guise of a monk, an act that has shocked and angered the public due to its grave violation of Buddhist principles.

In the video clip, the female teacher can be seen sitting on a monk's quilt, seemingly meditating calmly within a lavishly decorated bowl adorned with lotus flowers. As the scene unfolds, she proceeds to light candles surrounding her and assumes different postures in accordance with the Dharma, a sacred teaching.

However, in response to this incident, a monk named Kim Tong posted a video on October 30, 2023, on his Facebook account, without uttering a single word.

Moreover, numerous individuals voiced their criticism of the act, expressing their disapproval by stating, "How can a mere piece of fabric be exploited for commercial gain? It is disheartening to witness someone who is supposed to prioritize others' well-being instead indulging in vanity and idolatry, oblivious to the true essence of Buddha, Dharma, and the monkhood. Our Buddhist values are being distorted by those who lack understanding of its principles and fail to comprehend the distinction between celebration and transgression."

Concerned citizens are calling upon the Ministry of Cults and Religions to investigate this matter diligently, as such actions have deeply undermined the core values of Buddhism.

The aforementioned female teacher presently resides in Or Russey 1 village, Sangkat Or Russey 1, Kratie City, Kratie Province.

Perhaps they could also diligently look into the corruption of other activities, such as unceremoniously cramming lots of small birds into small cages, so that they can be ceremoniously released.

I wonder what proportion of the population has any genuine understanding.
