Kep Sea Festival 2023
Kep Sea Festival aiming to establish province on the international map
Hin Pisei | Publication date 15 August 2023 | 21:37 ICT
Kep province is set to host the 10th Sea Festival during the third week of December 2023. The annual festival (except during Covid-19) alternates between Cambodia’s four coastal provinces, Kep, Kampot, Preah Sihanouk and Koh Kong.
Kep Provincial Department of Tourism director Som Chenda told The Post on August 15 that the festival would attract many national and international visitors to Kep and bring positive growth to the local economy.
“Sea Festival is not only to boost and promote tourism in Kep, but also helps increase the income directly to the local people,” he said.
Although there are only 1,600 hotel and guesthouse rooms in Kep, which is insufficient to accommodate visitors to the event, he opined that Cambodia has a better road network connecting the capital and the province these days, therefore accommodation would not be an issue for guests.
“At the same time, the provincial authorities also plan to provide campsites for accommodation,” Chenda added.
Meanwhile, the recently-launched Kep Tourism Development Master Plan 2023-2035 is designed to turn Kep into a luxurious eco-tourism destination with a competitive edge against others beyond Cambodia.

Re: Kep Sea Festival 2023
Hosting Sea Festival to Contribute to Tourism Development in Kep Province
AKP Phnom Penh, October 24, 2023 --
Kep province is set to host the 10th Sea Festival from Dec. 1 to 3 aimed to boost tourism development and attract more national and foreign tourists to visit the coastal province.
A preparatory meeting on the organisation of the annual festival was held on Oct. 23 at the provincial hall under the chairmanship of Minister of Tourism H.E. Sok Soken, Kep Provincial Governor H.E. Som Piseth, relevant officials, and private sector in the tourism sector.
“The Sea Festival this year will boost and promote tourism sector by showcasing potential tourism products and sites in the province to tourists,” H.E. Sok Soken said.
The three-day festival will feature live concerts, artistic performances, food and beverage show, trade fair, fireworks and sports, the minister added.
Under the recently-launched Kep Tourism Development Master Plan 2023-2035, the province is designed to turn into a luxurious eco-tourism destination with a competitive edge against others beyond Cambodia.
Organised in different coastal provinces every year, the Sea Festival is aimed at promoting the country's coastal areas to tourists and encouraging the protection of maritime resources.
Cambodia's coastline, registered as a member of the World-Bays Club in 2011, stretches 450 kilometres over four southwestern provinces of Preah Sihanouk, Kep, Kampot and Koh Kong.
