Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): A man who claimed to be the owner of E-School Cambodia Co. and a successful teacher was arrested by the military police on fraud charges and sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, where the judge ordered his detention in Prey Sar 1 prison while awaiting trial.

41-year-old Lon Borey, was arrested by the military police on August 12, 2023, as he left his office at around 11 noon near Toul Kork Market, Phnom Penh. After building a case to be sent to court according to the procedure, the court decided to send him to Prey Sam 1 Prison on August 19, 2023 for the crimes of fraud, forgery of public documents, and usage of fake public documents in order to defraud, involving a land title deed worth about 250,000 US dollars.
Detention Order No. 6683, dated 18 August 2023 issued by Mr. Oung Vuthea, Investigating Judge of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, charges Lon Borey under Articles 377, 378, 629 and 630 of the Penal Code.

School deputy director and Facebook influencer arrested on $250,000 fraud charges

Lon Borey, Deputy Director of E-School Cambodia – and well known as a Facebook influencer in Cambodia – has been arrested by the Royal Gendarmerie by order of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court.

Mr. Lon was arrested in connection with a case of fraud, forgery of public documents and use of forged public documents in Phnom Penh during June 2023.

On August 18, 2023, the Investigating Judge of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, Mr. Oung Vuthea, issued an order to detain the accused Lon Borey at the 1st Correctional Center, following the correct procedure.

E-School Cambodia has issued a notice confirming that this is a personal matter of Lon Borey, not related to the school.

Cambodia News, ( Phnom Penh): Lon Borey, Deputy Director of E-School Cambodia, was arrested by the Royal Gendarmerie on 2nd September 2023 at 41, Street 173, Sangkat Toul Svay Prey 1, Khan Boeung Keng Kang, Phnom Penh, in accordance with a court order.

On 18th August 2023, the Investigating Judge of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, Mr. Oung Vuthea, issued an order to detain the accused Lon Borey at the 1st Correctional Center.
The order was executed as follows: The competent agency of the public force brought the accused named Lon Borey, a Cambodian male national born on 5 April 1982, to the 1st Correctional Center (M1) in accordance with the law until a new order is decided otherwise.

Mr. Lon Borey is charged with fraud, forgery of public documents, and the use of forged public documents in Phnom Penh during June 2023; these are criminal offenses punishable by Provisions Article 377, Article 378, Article 629, and Article 630 of the Cambodian Penal Code.

Someone please explain to me why the ,Royal Gendarmerie, Military Police would be involved in such a case. Do they not have enough cases to investigate in the military services.
