Hug Cards
I've always been a bit if a serious joker so a few months ago I had some ''hug cards '' printed 30,000 for 100 cards. Bought some to Australia to hand out.
Case 1 .. I'm walking through a shopping center mall and a girl 6 foot tall and built like a sumo wrestler and very dark skin is dancing and singing to some music . I dont know what she had been smoking, but I walked up to her, showed her my ''Hug Ticket'', and asked where I could cash it in. She looked at it, turned it over to read the other side , and said right here then proceeded to hug me so hard my blood rushed to my head. Am I glad she didn't have her legs wrapped around me. I thanked her , and looked back later to see her still dancing holding her ''hug ticket high in the air.
Case 2,,, I'm walking home along a narrow footpath and I catch up to a couple in their 30 to 40 s who are arguing, They finally realise i want to get past so they stop, and separate to let me pass between them. At that moment I pull out a hug card and ask the guy where I can cash in my hug card, I get a very sour dont know and the lady takes the card , reads both side , and gives me a big hug which seemed to last a lifetime. She didnt want to let go. I looked over my shoulder to see where the guy was and he was 100m up the street. When we parted I distinctly saw a tear in her eyes and she pulled out a tissue from her bag and wiped her eyes. She definitely needed that hug more than me.
Case 3.. I'm at a bus stop and beside me is a 20s something girl waiting for a bus. A bus pulls in and another 20s something girl gets off. The two of them recognise each other and give each other a big hug. I pull out a hug card and ask , where can I cash in my hug card. They both read it and I get two hugs. Its not the bus I was waiting for so I sit down an wait, Both girls ended up making a game of it , giving their card to each other and getting a hug from each other. Totally hilarious to watch.
Case 4... I have 2 items to pay for in the ''express lane '' of the supermarket, in front of me is a very old lady who encourages me to go in front of her,, which I do, She tries to read the hug card I give her but her eyesight is bad so she calls out to ,, she said her daughter, who was in another checkout lane,, to read it. The daughter says yes yes yes and pushes her towards me. I thank the old lady and she said there should be more hugs in the world and less fighting.
Case 5... I see a nice police lady in uniform, and take out a tissue from my bag, pretending to be upset and wiping my eyes and ask her where can I cash in my hug card. I open my arms out wide expecting the male police officer to slap the handcuffs on me. But no,, I got a hug from her. You see some police officers do have a heart.
Good to have a laugh every day.

Re: Hug Cards
There was a barang at Lucky supermarket Sihanouk a couple of weeks ago who had a placard attached to two sticks coming out of the small backpack he was wearing, advertising FREE HUGS.
The customer in front of me was having problems with Lucky overcharging him so the hugger looked over from his line and asked me if I would like to go first, only having a couple of items. I think he meant in the queue but I stayed where I was.
Apparently it's a thing
But try explaining that in a café om.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_Hugs_CampaignThe Free Hugs Campaign is a social movement involving individuals who offer hugs to strangers in public places.[1] The hugs are meant to be random acts of kindness—selfless acts performed just to make others feel better. International Free Hugs Month is celebrated on the first Saturday of July and continues until August first.
The campaign in its present form was started in 2004 by an Australian man known only by the pseudonym "Juan Mann".[2] The campaign became famous internationally in 2006 as the result of a music video on YouTube by the Australian band Sick Puppies, which has been viewed over 78 million times as of 25 September 2022.
But try explaining that in a café om.

Re: Hug Cards
I suppose it's harmless enough but personally I wouldn't want some stranger touching me. What if they were nuts and clung onto you or bit you or something?

Re: Hug Cards
It would seem to me the one passing out the cards would be the stranger , seeing that they would be the one soliciting .John Bingham wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 6:38 pm I suppose it's harmless enough but personally I wouldn't want some stranger touching me. Unless it was to an old lady who could possibly pass as his sweet old gramma or whatever ..
i would be leery if I was a young hot chick to hug some old perv ..
scared he might be nuts and bite me ..

Re: Hug Cards
I guess that's the American way ? Hugging each others around like two grown-up cowboys by an evening of great solitude in the wilderness, seems a bit extreme to me ^^
Maybe i should just offer free handshakes to do my share ?

I think it has to be decided on a case-by-case basis

Re: Hug Cards
I agree totally. There are plenty of strange people out there, many of them smell of BO, maybe have lice. I reserve my physical contact to family members or lovers, certainly not complete strangers. What does anyone get out of it? A bit like tree-hugging, probably, some sort of psychological 'whole earth' thing.John Bingham wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 6:38 pm I suppose it's harmless enough but personally I wouldn't want some stranger touching me. You should be asking politicians that question. They seem to specialise in hugging babies when it comes to election time.hdgh29 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2023 8:59 amI agree totally.
