bkk travel/transit
I know many of you travel through Bangkok to other destinations that are not easy from here. I am flying back to Canada around January 10 and the prices/routes are ridiculous at the moment. I found a flight from BKK that is dirt cheap (relatively) but it leaves 8 AM necessitating getting there a day early. Anyone know if there is any hotels airside that don't cost an arm and a leg? Alternatively something near the airport in the 1000 baht range.
Yeah yeah I am a cheap charlie!

Nothing airside. Many hotels in Lat Krabang charge 800-1000. They are usually good too. Look on google maps and click through to the best deal offered by a reputable OTA.johnny lightning wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 4:01 pm I know many of you travel through Bangkok to other destinations that are not easy from here. Still takes a while to get to/from them. Taxi fare 100-150, plus airport surcharge if applicable.
You can get a meter taxi from the short trip line at BKK. Or take the free shuttle to the bus station and take a taxi from there.
You will need Grab or Bolt in order to get a car to take you back to BKK as these hotels are generally on quiet side streets. If you already have Grab from Cambodia, you'll be good to go in Thailand but for Bolt you will need a Thai sim in order to register.

Good policy to get the day before to Lad Krabang. Many hotels provide a shuttle service, both pick-up and drop-off 24/7. A place in eastern Lad Krabang might be better as the noise from planes is considerably less.
If you travel overland, take the bus from the border to Chaosengsao and then from there the songtaew to Lad Krabang. The driver will drop you off along the main street where most hotels are located. Plenty of food in the area as well.

I stayed november 21, when Cambodia just reopened, at SUNNY RESIDENCE, its a 10 minute drive from Suvarnabuhmi airport. Basic hotel but okay for a night. Payed 1000 bath breakfast included and shuttle service included. Arrived late at airport and no shuttle to see, payed a taxi which was more or less the same price as the shuttle i booked for. Next morning had a descent breakfast in my room (because of covid restaurant didnt open yet) and they brought me back to the airport with their minivan. Will use it again if fly really early !!

The Ivory Hotel is near the Bkk Airport about 2km, they have their own official site, it will suit your budget. I stayed at the Ivory dozen of times no complaint.johnny lightning wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 4:01 pm I know many of you travel through Bangkok to other destinations that are not easy from here.
