Re: Penalties for foreigners taking drugs
A friend got caught in 2017 with 100g of weed, probably a set up. His Cambodian friend called a relative who is in the police and he called a cop. They settled for 100$ and he kept the weed.

Hey, at least they let him keep the weed (though I'm guessing it was pretty raggy gutter twine bulging with mostly stems and seeds). Good for him, though. The $100 was a tax.

but those days are over with ABA everywhere these days
What I don’t get is all the new places around for ATMs and cash in machines ,
…got to get off the moto and park and walk in
Tell me why no drive ups ? - not seen any here .. do I want to say daft or daffy ?
I remember being caught with with weed twice , I know once was $45 ( took a picture )
, the cop turned his head & handed me his wallet to put it in
and not sure what I gave to the other copper
But we were buddies for awhile ,
Never got caught in thailand , but if I did i would have pointed the finger at my mother in law .
Don’t know how or why , but She had the power !

Its not a matter of law, its a matter of what the cops want to do. You may resist being tested, but if you have ever been arrested, taken to a window-less room at the back of a police station, screamed at and threatened, you may decide to cooperate. And no, you dont get a phone call.Gary Small wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 4:24 pmSo can you quote me the law that gives them the power to drug test people randomly?John Bingham wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 10:32 amWhere did you hear that? As a foreigner you are obliged to follow the same criminal laws as anyone else.Gary Small wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 9:09 am As a foreigner, you're not obliged to take any drug test., and you should not cooperate .
Come back to me when you do.

Well in reality, you get whatever you want, but they decide how much it's gonna cost you. A phone call certainly isn't inconceivable if it's to the person who will deliver your "bail money". Or so I've been told.hdgh29 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 9:33 pmIts not a matter of law, its a matter of what the cops want to do.
