Charitable Hospitals

Post by chiltern »

Are there any charitable hospitals in Phnom Penh who will treat or offer advice to people of low or no income and will just charge what the individual is able to pay.

I have a Khmer friend who need help and advice and the doctors they have approached are asking for far more cash than they are able to raise. I am prepared to help but unfortunately do not at present or expect to in the near future have sufficient money to pay the total asked.

I am not in Cambodia at present otherwise I would be more proactive on the ground so I thought the best I could do is ask this forum

Thanks

Theoretically all Cambodians are entitled to free care at any government hospital.

Kantha bopha for children, Cambodians can get "free" Healthcare, still doesn't negate the fact that the fucking nurses walk in expecting 5000-10000 riel just to check vitals..

Although in principal the health care is free, at the very least you need a family member to take care of many of the patient's needs, such as food, water and basic comforts. 8-)

NSSF card gives free medical treatment at hundreds of centre's around the country for regular ailments and knocks

But if we are talking expensive treatments like oncology etc idk if there's any recourse beyond pain management for those unable to finance themselves

Mercy Hospital: https://mercymedcambodia.org/

I've had no dealings with them personally, but I remembered that they were mentioned on CEO somewhere a while back, so better check them out for yourself. They are a US Christian mission kind of hospital with the goal of giving medical care to the needy, from what I can make out. Maybe someone else on CEO has used them ?

There's a phone no and a map on the link here. They are also on FB.
