Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: A police official, Sot Sothy, 53, Deputy Chief of Prek Eang Intervention Unit Logistics Police Office, was arrested and taken to court for deliberately driving into a motorcycle and causing a woman's death, in front of Wat Russey Sros, Khan Chbar Ampov on the afternoon of September 13, 2023.

According to police sources, who asked not to be named, the perpetrator and the victim were married. The victim, Prum Eang, 64, lived near the accident scene in Koh Nora village, Niroth commune, Chbar Ampov district, Phnom Penh. According to the same source, the police officer was living apart from his wife due to irreconcilable differences.

According to the police, the policeman was driving a Highlander car while the daughter was driving her mother to the market on a motorcycle at the time of the collision. After the accident, the car was driven away and then dumped near the fence of Chbar Ampov High School, 2 km from the scene, with the license plate removed.
Currently, the police officer has been arrested and sent to court for legal action.
