Prime Minister HM announced on Sept. 9 that passport offices will be opened in foreign countries to facilitate the procedures for Cambodian citizens to renew their passports. South Korea will be the first country in which a passport office will be opened, he said.
According to Cambodian government data, as of August 2023, there were more than 1.3 million Cambodian workers in other countries, that is, more than 1.2 million workers in Thailand, more than 50,000 workers in South Korea, and around 20,000 workers in Japan and Malaysia.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
Re: HM Orders to Open Cambodian Passport Offices in Foreign Countries
This is a great decision...currently Cambodians can only renew their passports in Cambodia, and they have to go to the passport office in person, cannot be done from outside Cambodia or by a 3rd party.

Cambodian Passport Can be Applied at Embassies in Foreign Nations
AKP Phnom Penh, September 09, 2023 --
Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HM, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, said Cambodian passport can now be applied at the Cambodian embassies in foreign nations, starting with South Korea.
At a get-together with some 18,000 workers and employees in Samrong Torng district, Kampong Speu province this morning, Samdech Thipadei HM said the Royal Government of Cambodia is committed to providing better services to the people.
“Cambodian passports now are allowed to be issued abroad, starting by South Korea, to solve the difficulties for the migrant workers there. There is no need for the Cambodian people there to travel to their home country to apply for their passport,” he said.
Samdech Thipadei HM took the opportunity to remind the Royal Embassies of Cambodia in foreign nations of two important points: first, be responsible for the country's political and economic relations, and second, protect the interests of the Cambodian nationals in accordance with the constitution, even though they hold another nationality.
“This is the duty of our embassies abroad and this is what the government must do for the public interest,” he said.
Besides, Samdech Thipadei HM affirmed that the letter of criminal record can be now applied online, but once issued, we need to personally get it at the Ministry of Justice.
