Cambodia News, (Kandal Province): On August 26, 2023 in Sampov Poun city, Kandal province. two Vietnamese nationals were arrested by Sampov Poun police on charges of kidnapping, torture, and extortion.

According to Sampov Poun City Police, two suspects arrested were: NGUYEN VAN THANH, a 30-year-old male resident of Yongyuan Company, Chrey Thom Village, Sampov Poun Commune, Sampov Poun City, Kandal Province, and Nguyen Vich Hung. Male, 25 years old, staying at the same address. Seven other suspects are also detained and being investigated by the authorities in this case.

The source added that according to the security camera and according to the identification of the photos of the two suspects, it was confirmed that they were involved in the case of illegal detention and aggravated torture for money.

Currently, experts have taken the nine Vietnamese suspects from Svay Rieng province for questioning, and the research team is still investigating.
