Police Patrol Lead to the Arrest of 2 Teen Drive-By Bag Snatchers in Phnom Penh
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On August 14, 2023, at 15:30, a patrol led by Brigadier General Vuthy Vongvibol, Deputy Director of the Department in charge of the Office of Minor Crimes, accompanied by Colonel Leng Bun Hour and Lieutenant Colonel Moeun Dararith, took place on Street 271 in Sangkat Boeung Tumpun, Khan Chamkar Mon, Phnom Penh. Their objective was to ensure public safety and prevent crimes in the area.
During the patrol, the officers encountered a motorcycle with two riders who were attempting to snatch belongings from lone motorcycle riders. Acting swiftly, the specialized force of the office initiated a pursuit and successfully apprehended the two suspects at Preah Monivong Street, Sangkat Boeung Trabek, Khan Chamkar Mon, Phnom Penh.
The suspects have been identified as Long Chanleng, also known as Chi, a 17-year-old individual, and Yoeun Sambath, also known as Srun, a 16-year-old student. Yoeun Sambath was the rear passenger of the motorcycle.
The confiscated items include a black Honda Dream C125 motorcycle, manufactured in 2021, with license plate Phnom Penh 1IS-4388, along with several other belongings. Currently, the specialized force has taken the suspects into custody and they are being questioned at the Criminal Police Department. The necessary preparations are being made to present the case to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for further legal action.
