That is the best advice,and my own experience in Th and Cambo but in Middle and South America as well.

Police in the Philippines,and in Thailand experienced unarmed combat with drunk American soldiers on R&R from Vietnam.They learned to get mean and make it hurt.I was one of the soldiers who took R&R from Vietnam.I have seen drunk soldiers use knives in bar fights and understand why police officers get rough with expats in bar fights.
