Need advice on buying Borey unit in Cambodia
Re: Need advice on buying Borey unit in Cambodia
Some great info in this thread. I’m also in the early stages of looking for property around Phnom Penh.
@PSD-Kiwi You mentioned you would never personally buy a borey development property. Out of interest what kind of property did you end up buying if you’re willing to share?

Interesting topic. Most building in Cambodia is shit, obviously. But at least it is cheap. In Australia more and more people are having to buy into apartments under Strata Law. Many buildings are shit with water issues from roofs, balconies and others bathrooms. Owners face special levies of tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands to share the costs of repairs.
I am working with residents of a villa complex in Cairns to solve a huge problem. The property is much like a Borey, 131 free standing villas on land that is a swamp. It is near the Barron River that experienced a massive flood just before Christmas. The Villas were inundated and the power supply buggered. They are still running on generators supplied and fuelled by the State Govt at a cost of $20,000 a week or a month. The bill to replace the underground power cables in 3 million dollars. And if the Body Corporate decide to go ahead and a resident can’t pay then their property will be sold. So buying in Cambodia is not such a bad option.
