3 Traffic Officers Suspended over Allegations of Extorting Chinese Drivers
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the morning of 10th August 2023, according to a letter from the Phnom Penh Municipal Police, three traffic police officers were suspended after being accused of extorting money from Chinese people at the Wat Sleng traffic light. The Phnom Penh Municipal Police Commissioner has temporarily suspended the three police officers from the Road Traffic Police Office for attempting to extort money from Chinese drivers.
The suspended officers are:
1. Lieutenant Sok Kimly, ID number 80080, Deputy Chief of Division.
2. Lieutenant Suon Phanna, ID number 86429, Deputy Chief of Division.
3. Lieutenant Lon Lihov, ID number 89737, officer rank.
The above-mentioned officers must appear at the Office of Intervention during every working hour to face correction until a new decision is given. The Deputy Commissioner of Planning Staff, Deputy Commissioner of Human Resources, Deputy Commissioner of Road Traffic Police, Chief of Staff Personnel, Chief of Intervention and Sheriff's Office, and Chief of Road Traffic Police Office must comply with the order.
