Thai National Arrested for Drug Trafficking In Front of Banteay Meanchey Nightclub
Cambodia News: The Banteay Meanchey Provincial Armed Forces apprehended a Thai national suspect in a drug-related incident on August 9, 2023. The arrest took place in front of MEX CLUB Club located in Kbal Spean Village, Sangkat O’Chrov, Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province.
The suspect, identified as PONGPON JITSOMSUK, known by the alias Chhang, is a 29-year-old male Thai national who works online. Currently, he resides in a rented room in Samaki Meanchey village, Sangkat O’Chrov, Poipet city.
According to authorities, the crackdown was initiated after the Poipet City Military Base received information from the club's security guards. These guards reported a suspicious incident involving a Thai man on a motorcycle who attempted to enter the MEX CLUB but was prevented from doing so.
Upon closer inspection of the individual, security guards requested to search the man and subsequently discovered drugs in his possession.
During the arrest, law enforcement seized the following items as evidentiary exhibits:
- 43 sachets of ketamine weighing 60.8 g
- 2 sachets of ecstasy, equivalent to 15 pills weighing 5.82g
- 2 packs of pink (ecstasy) tablets, equivalent to 14 tablets weighing 6.39g
- 3 packs of purple tablets (ecstasy), equivalent to 17 tablets weighing 7.09g
- 2 green FRIMIN tablets, equivalent to 20 tablets
- 7 blue CRISPY FRUIT powder packs
- 5 red horse FB powder packs
- 17 red ALADIN powder packs
- 6 packs of 550MG red fruit powder
- 3 packs of white SUPREME powder
- 2 packs of pink COLLAGEN KUMIKO powder
- 2 packs of COLLAGEN 10,000mg purple powder
- Fruit powder marked with 5 Korean characters
Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted to engaging in drug trafficking and possessing illegal substances.
Based on the suspect's confession and the substantial evidence at hand, authorities transferred him to the Provincial Gendarmerie Command for further investigation.
Both the suspect and the seized exhibits were subsequently handed over by the Provincial Anti-Drug Office of the Provincial Gendarmerie to the Provincial Court for further legal proceedings.
