Cambodia News (Kampot): On 13 September 2022, the horrific case of the rape and murder of a young woman occurred in Sre Leav Village, Trapeang Phleang Commune, Chhuk District, Kampot Province.
The 26-year-old victim of the murder was married to a farmer and they had one son. Prior to the incident, the victim rode her motorcycle to a field at around 3 pm to move the buffaloes. When the victim didn’t return home to her family, they became suspicious and went to search for her. However, they could not find her that night.

Then on the morning of 14 September 2022, her husband searched again and found his wife's dead body in a field covered with some branches, which he reported to the authorities. The police then arrived with a forensic medical team to conduct an autopsy on the victim to determine the cause of death. Her body was then handed to the family for the funeral rites.

The motorcycle of the victim was also missing from the scene, and it is suspected that it was stolen by the same person who raped and killed the young woman. The family has made a fervent appeal to the Kampot Provincial Police Commissioner to find the killer and punish him according to the law, in order to find justice for the family and for the victim.

UPDATE: Murder Suspect Arrested

Cambodia News, (Kampot Province): Kampot Provincial Police said that in just 72 hours, the criminal force of Kampot Provincial Police has solved the case of murder, rape, torture, cruelty and theft and arrested a suspect.

On September 13, 2022, at 13:00, there was a case of murder by torture, rape, and aggravated robbery committed at Tlok Ta Ban point in Sre Leav village, commune. Trapeang Phleang, Chhouk district, Kampot province. After the murder, the specialized force of the Provincial Police in cooperation with the Chhuk District Police Inspectorate and the Teuk Chhou District Police Inspectorate opened an investigation and arrested the suspect, Ngoc Chrel, male, 32 years old, residing in Trapeang Koki Village, Kampot province, on September 16, 2022 at 17:15.

During the arrest of the suspect, the police confiscated a motorcycle and a mobile phone belonging to the victim; these will be used as evidence against the accused.
