Increase in Trade with Vietnam in 2023
Cambodia, Vietnam achieve positive trade growth in 6 months
July 13, 2023
In the first half of 2023, Vietnam has become Cambodia's largest trading partner among ASEAN members. According to data from the General Department of Customs and Excise, Cambodia exported about $ 1.42 billion worth of goods to Vietnam and imported about $ 1.87 billion worth of goods. In the first six months of this year, trade between the two countries reached 3.3 billion US dollars, up 1.3 percent from the same period last year.
With such positive trade growth, Vietnam is not only the largest trading partner in ASEAN, but also the third largest of all Cambodian trade partners after China and the United States.
Cambodia's main exports are rice, rubber, cashew, cassava, corn, bananas, mangoes and tobacco, while the main imports from Vietnam include construction materials, machinery, fuel, electrical and electronic equipment, fertilizers, animal feed, spices, vegetables and fruits.
It should be noted that the growth of Cambodia's exports to Vietnam was mainly driven by a larger amount of agricultural exports, due to the increase in agricultural harvests.
