Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): A Chinese man was arrested by the Por Sen Chey District Police in cooperation with the Armed Forces, after he staggered out of a drink shop drunk, pulled out a pistol, and fired off a number of shots at about 3:20am on July 5, 2023, on a concrete road in front of the Phnom Penh International Airport in Khan Por Sen Chey.


According to eyewitnesses, before the incident, they saw the Chinese man sitting drinking by himself at a noodle soup kitchen. He paid his bill and left the shop with a small black bag on his shoulder. Then suddenly, the local people were scared out of their wits when they heard gunshots going off outside in the street. It was the drunk Chinese man, who had taken a loaded pistol from his bag, firing off random shots into the sky.


Some people called the local police who came immediately to investigate, but since the man was armed and drunk, they reported the affair to a more senior level under the direct direction of Mr. Mon Vuthy, District Inspector of Por Sen Chey with a team of Armed Forces. Immediately after the police and military arrived, the Chinese man tried to escape into a guesthouse, but the police surrounded the place and opened fire, and the Chinese man was taken into custody to the Por Sen Chey District Police Inspectorate for questioning. .

The Chinese man is currently being held by the specialized force of the Police Inspectorate of Po Sen Chey District, waiting for further questioning and to build a case according to legal procedures.

The Chinese man's version of events is: He was shooting off his pistol, attempting to attract attention, because he had been robbed !

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On the evening of July 6, 2023, the police sent a Chinese national involved in several shootings in Por Sen Chey district to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for further proceedings.

It should be noted that between 3-4am on July 5, 2023, a drunken Chinese man pulled out a K54 pistol inthe street and fired off several shots, upsetting the local people at New Town, Prey Tea Village. Sangkat Choam Chao 3, Khan Por Senchey, Phnom Penh.

According to the police, the suspect, who was a bit lost (drunk ?), pulled out his gun and fired several shots from left and right in New Town Market and then walked to the guesthouse where he was staying. The armed forces then arrived at the scene, and they took the trigger-happy Chinese man into custody at around 7-8am. The suspect has now been sent to court.
