Kandal Province: It has been reported by local news outlets that a 12-year-old schoolgirl was electrocuted during a heavy downpour while waiting with her brother on a motorcycle near a light pole. The post-mortem examination of the girl by military police also concluded that she died from receiving an electric shock.

According to the Kien Svay district police, the schoolgirl's mother reported that on 3 July 2023, at approximately 4pm she went to meet her son and daughter, who were both on a motorcycle with the boy driving, waiting under a lampost. It was raining heavily when the woman saw her daughter fall from the motorcycle, and she rushed up to pull her daughter away from the area. However, the girl, 12-year-old Cheat Mom Bo Pheakdey, was already paralyzed and lifeless.

The mother brought her daughter's body home, where an autopsy revealed bruises on the girl's face, cheeks, with a 0.6-meter burn mark on her left eye. Other than minor scratches on her left forearm, her body and head were found to be normal. It was concluded that the cause of death was indeed an electric shock.

Authorities are now urging people to refrain from standing or stopping motorcycles near light poles during rainfall, as there is a risk of electric shock, as demonstrated in this tragic incident.

Ah yes, put the onus on the citizens instead of ensuring that infrastructure is maintained and serviced :stir:

Not to be too morbid, but it must be one of the most painful ways to go. You literally fry from the inside and are probably conscious for quite some time whilst being too paralysed to do anything about it.

RIP. Especially at just 12yo.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never allow the dumb ones to lead the pack.
