We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): A tragic accident occurred on July 3, 2023, at 20:30pm, along Preah Norodom Street in Tonle Bassac, Chamkarmon district, resulting in the death of a woman. The victim, identified as La Mali, a 24-year-old resident of Koh Keo Leu village, Koh Keo commune, Lvea Em district, Kandal province, was riding a white Honda Scoopy motorcycle (Phnom Penh 1CU-8104).

According to witnesses at the scene, La Mali was traveling alone down the Monivong Bridge and turned left onto Preah Norodom Road at a moderate speed. At that moment, an unidentified man driving a white HUMMER luxury car (with license plate Phnom Penh 2BR-5557) was also driving down the Monivong Bridge parallel to her, when suddenly the driver swerved into the Scoopy motorcycle from the right, where it was caught by the car and dragged some distance along the road.
Unfortunately, the woman suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby private hospital by an ambulance, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Following the incident, the local authorities from Tonle Bassac Sangkat Administrative Police Station arrived at the scene and contacted the Municipal Traffic Division to document and impound the two vehicles at the Road Traffic Office. The Phnom Penh Municipal Police are awaiting the involvement of both parties to resolve the matter. The victim's body is currently being held at the private hospital, awaiting contact from her family. RIP.
