Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On 4 July 2023, a man's body was discovered in the basement of an abandoned construction site, located at the junction of Street 1984 and Street 1003, in Phnom Penh Thmey Village, Sangkat Phnom Penh Thmey, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh.
At around 9:30am, a junk collector went into the basement of the partly constructed 3-storey building, seeking scrap metal or objects that could be recovered and sold. He was much surprised when he came across the body of a dead man and immediately reported this to the authorities for further investigation.

The body of the man, estimated to be over 30 years old, was found floating in a pool of water, wearing a striped long-sleeved shirt and parachute pants.
The post-mortem examination of the body revealed that the man had fallen into a pool of stagnant water that was more than 3 meters deep and approximately 4 meters square. His head was submerged in the water, and he appeared to have entered the abandoned site, perhaps at night-time, and then accidentally drowned when he fell into the pool.

Authorities are currently working to identify the man and locate his family.
