Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): Heavy rainfall caused flooding into a garment factory during working hours, causing an electric shock, killing one worker and injuring three others at 5:20 pm on July 3, 2023 in the Shilling brand factory in Sambour village, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh.
According to workers at the factory, a heavy downpour caused flooding inside the building, but the factory overseers did not allow them to seek shelter and made them continue to work as usual, despite the conditions.
As a result, Trong Vannak, a 17 year old man, died from electrocution in the factory, and three other men with minor injuries are being treated at Calmette Hospital.

The source from the scene said that everybody was still working when, suddenly, the four male victims fainted in a row and they realized that it was due to an electric shock, so they ran to turn off the lights. The workers helped to lift the victims and make a rescue operation, but by the time the doctors arrived, one of the victims was already dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the three other men who also received a shock were transported to Calmette Hospital by ambulance.

Following this fatal incident, the police chief called for the forensic and technical expertise of the Phnom Penh Municipal Commission to conduct a post-mortem examination of the victim's body. The competent authorities are now inspecting the Dangkor factory to determine the cause of the electric shock, which was so dangerous, and indeed fatal, for the workers there.
