30Yo British Man, CHARLIE FREDERICK GRAY, Dies in Kampot, Cambodia

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

"We hardly see foreigners in this area.”

The man’s corpse was found at 4:15 pm on April 6, 2023, in a sewer near the concrete road to Ang Andong Preng pagoda in Tvi Khang Cheung village, Sangkat Andong Khmer Krong, Kampot.
Unless mistaken, that's the pagoda on route to the "international village" in Kampot

There are hundreds of foreigners in that area
Yes, you are mistaken. It's not en route at all but way off to the right quite a ways away from the International village. Very few foreigners live in this part of Thvi village.

The only Wat on the way to Tadep Village aka International Village is Wat Kampot on the main road. Wat Veal Pouch is past us and at the basr of the mountain. Not sure where Wat Ang Andong is....
Cross over on the old bridge from Kampot & continue straight until you're almost at the junction with the N3.
Turn right through the first pagoda arch into that short road, then cross the N3 and through the 2nd pagoda arch on the other side. Go straight, cross the railway line & keep going. The pagoda will appear on your left.

Technically speaking... the real name is Tadap Village. There is no International Village. That was a name given the area by a local developer to attract foreigners to the area.
It's since become the nickname with a lot of folks (not all of us, like the ones out here 10 plus years).
It had/has a perfectly fine nickname... khmaoch chaor or Ghost Thief.
It's the area that supposedly they took the bad guys building the roads up Bokor in the 1920's and killed them.

granted... a bit less catchy but it did keep the locals out.

not any more.
if you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

Seriously, who cares?

Also, it's off topic & derails the conversation.

Just perusing this thread, yea so hes switched from a 41 yo man to a 31 yo man. Circumstances really bizarre, so yea hes shirtless, away from town and dead, laying on the ground, and either at midnight or 12 pm with tons of witnesses or just 1 Khmer guy who found him, and did or did not attempt to perform CPR. Something that comes to mind is a hit and run. Hes laying in a ditch. So probably he was out exercising, and someone hit him, and his injuries were not immediately obvious (I have not seen the unpixelated photos). He looks to be a healthy young man and not sick. Everyone knows Cambodia autopsy skills are in the stone age (as with past descriptions of deceased westerners). Its too bad the UK or the US doesn't do something about performing their own autopsies at the embassy. for foreign citizens.

At present his FB account either not available or not connected to my acct.

Being healthy (-looking) doesn't buy you a lot once you're dead, does it? No idea why you brought this thread back to life.

Probably for
-financial considerations along the same rationale as outsourcing visa and passport applications to a third party contractor.
-Jurisdiction
-storage facilities (medically certified)
-frequency of use

Among a few ideas to pop to mind.

More curious, though-
Why would his Facebook account be connected to yours? Do you know the fella? Is that the reason for the recent interest?

There are two other individuals who im directly connected with on FB who died recently and both are connected to Cambodia, and there are also another 2 who are not connected to me, but who also died, they are second level connection (I didnt know either) and both also have connects to Cambodia so quite a lot going on there.
