Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On the morning of June 23, 2023, the police of the Road Traffic Police Office sent a man to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for legal proceedings, after he drove into a police officer while driving through a red traffic light on 22 June 2023.


At 2:40 pm on June 22, 2023, the man, who was driving a Toyota Prius ( license plate number 2BT-0591), failed to stop for a red light at the Psar Dei Huy traffic light, and furthermore, when a traffic policeman came out to stop him, the driver not only refused to stop, but accelerated. He hit the traffic officer directly and carried him for more than 1 km on the bonnet of the car. Fortunately, with the help of the people in the area, the car was stopped and the policeman was rescued. He was injured in the incident, but his life is not in danger.

Currently, the competent authorities have arrested the car owner and taken him to the Land Traffic Office for questioning and to build a case to be sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court.
