Cambodia News, ( Banteay Meanchey): Authorities said tonight that the driver of a Ford pickup truck, which collided with a motorcycle in a fatal accident yesterday on National Road 5 at the point of the bridge in Banteay Neang commune, Mongkul Borei district, Banteay Meanchey province, is still unidentified and on the run.
The collision occured on June 19, 2023 at 14:40 pm, between a black 2017 Honda Dream motorcycle, with license plate Banteay Meanchey 1O-9897, and a white FORD RANGER XLT, 2023 truck, with license plate Phnom Penh 2BU-5682, which was driving at high speed along the slow lane when it hit the motorbike.
Colonel Sin Narak, police inspector of Mongkul Borei district, said that in this case, Chhoeut Chat, a 30-year-old man residing in Mongkul Borei district, Banteay Meanchey province, was thrown from the motorbike as a result of the impact; he was not wearing a helmet, and when he hit the road, he died immediately. His younger brother, Chhoeut Run, 18, who was a passenger, was taken to the Cambodia-Japan Friendship Hospital in Mongkol Borei with injuries. The Ford driver left the vehicle at the scene and departed on foot. He is being sought by police.
The police inspector said on the evening of June 20, 2023, that the young man who was sent to the hospital is still in a serious condition, and that, so far, the authorities still do not know the identity of the Ford driver.

I don't get it - they have the car, which I assume is registered to someone. Or is it like motorbikes, you don't have to register change of ownership when buying secondhand? If so, the govt is missing out on potential revenue. Or was the car stolen? These cases of runaway drivers always seem a bit odd. Only in KOW.

Car ownership isn't registered after first registration when issuing the license plate.hdgh29 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 9:42 am I don't get it - they have the car, which I assume is registered to someone. *sometimes, car ownership isn't registered after first registration when issuing the license plate. Not helped by the fact that it's a whole fucking song and dance officially involving registered owner and new owner having to present in person and takes hours/to a day of every bodies livesKammekor wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 11:21 amCar ownership isn't registered after first registration when issuing the license plate.hdgh29 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 9:42 am I don't get it - they have the car, which I assume is registered to someone.
