Phnom Penh to Poipet Night Bus Overturns
Cambodia News, (Siem Reap Province): On the morning of June 18, 2023, at 4:20am, between Post No. 340 and 341 in Pak Panh Village, Siem Reap Province, a passenger bus (license plate Phnom Penh. 3.4999) traveling from Phnom Penh to Poipet, Banteay Meanchey Province, left the road and overturned into a field upside down, injuring 27 people, including 3 foreigners.
One of the passengers, who suffered head injuries in the accident, told the news team that he bought a ticket at the Sorya Bus Station at Phnom Penh Central Market, with a company called Reaksmey Phnom Penh Express, which travels between Phnom Penh and Poipet. He said that the driver of the bus fell asleep at the wheel, and they drove off the road and overturned. Then he crawled out, shouting for help, and the other passengers kicked the windshield to get out.
Sources from the police say that 12 passengers were treated for light injuries at the scene, and that 15 others were sent to the hospital for emergency treatment, but they are all expected to survive.The bus driver fled the accident scene.

Some of the 1st advice I ever read before travelling to Cambodia was to never use the overnight buses
I've lost count of the number of accidents I have since read about since then

The bus driver fled the accident scene.
I think avoiding the night buses is excellent advice (right up there with not going to Poipet in the first place).

Either to drive the bus, to chase the culprit, or to reveal this was just a glitch in the Shatrix ?
Anyway, this bus has reached his "point break" status for good.
