You've got it back to front. The US and various others were just a tool for Kissinger. He suggested the bombings, he was responsible. Don't try and defend war criminals who should have known better, especially as he had seen war criminals up close in Nazi Germany and in Italy and Spain.

He knew exactly what he was doing.

Defending him is indefensible.

I don't think either system is a great one, tbh, look at the state of several 'democratic' western/ NATO countries today (it may soon be illegal to protest in the UK), as well as several 'communist' countries.

Maybe somewhere combining the best elements of both could work.

Yes, Capitalism for the market in consumer products, the companies punitively taxed to fund free healthcare and education for all is surely an entry level requirement to be a 'first world' country.

I put the ugly little German higher than that chic hipster cook from New York who thought he was going to save the world. You act like you're sitting in the room, you have access to all the tapes. The order came from Nixon, and this order is based on various discussions around mahogany dinner tables in the Hamptons. If you think it's all so simple to blame it on the naughty German, you're not much better off than the rather naive Anthony Bourdain.

A hybrid system works for Scandinavia, the other options such as unrestrained capitalism, practiced by UK, US, France et al are having serious social and economic problems

The idea came from Kissinger. He is directly responsible for the deaths of close to 3 million people.

The order came from Nixon simply because as President, only he could give that order. The power structure simply wouldn't allow Kissinger to do it.

Many, many human rights organisations have condemned Kissinger and called for his prosecution. Are they all misinformed? Maybe you should educate them?

Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, East Timor, Bangladesh, civil wars in South Africa, et al. The list of dictators befriended by Kissinger is also long: Suharto, Putin, Khomeini, Zhou Enlai

I listened to his book "On China" and was never able to finish it. One of the most boring books I have ever listened to.
