Government Committed to Construct Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway
Posted on Friday, 9 December, 2022 by Sok Sereyrath
The Royal Government of Cambodia is committed to build another expressway linking Phnom Penh capital to Bavet city of Svay Rieng province, at the border with Vietnam.

The commitment was underlined by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HE in a Facebook post this morning while travelling to Sihanoukville of Preah Sihanouk province on the US$2-billion-worth Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville expressway, the first ever expressway in Cambodia, to preside over the official opening ceremony of the 9th Sea Festival tomorrow.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) last month entered into a framework agreement on the construction of the Phnom Penh-Bavet expressway whose construction is set to break ground next year and would take four years to complete.

The 138-kilometre-long Phnom Penh-Bavet expressway project would cost some US$1.6 billion.

Cambodia to Construct Another Bridge Crossing Mekong River
AKP Phnom Penh, February 27, 2023 --
The Royal Government has decided to construct a new bridge across the Mekong River to connect Kandal province to Prey Veng and Svay Rieng provinces.

The decision was shared by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HE at a graduation ceremony for more than 5,000 students of the National Technical Training Institute, organised at the Chroy Changvar International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh this morning.

The Premier said this new bridge would cost some US$230 million of the national budget and it will link to the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway project.

There are a lot of discussions on this bridge, but this is the Royal Government’s decision to boost the internal connectivity and that with Vietnam.

Cambodia is planning to build a 138-kilometre-long Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway worth US$1.63 billion this year and the construction would be completed by the end of 2026 or early 2027, at the same time as the Ho Chi Minh City-Mok Bai Expressway in Vietnam.

Cambodia signs contract with Chinese firm to build 2nd expressway
(Xinhua) 16:40, May 18, 2023

PHNOM PENH, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia on Thursday granted a concessional contract to China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) to invest in constructing and operating the second expressway connecting its capital Phnom Penh with Svay Rieng province's Bavet City on the border with Vietnam.

The contract was signed in Phnom Penh by the Cambodian Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol and Zhou Yong, general manager of the CRBC Cambodia Office.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chanthol said the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway will have a total length of 135.1 km and is estimated to cost 1.35 billion U.S. dollars.

He said a groundbreaking ceremony for the expressway will be held on June 7 and the construction is expected to be completed in four years.

"The CRBC will invest in the construction of the expressway in the form of BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) with a period of 50 years before the company transfers it to the government," Chanthol said.

The CRBC is also the developer of the first Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, which has been put into use since October last year.
