Ignorance, insecurity, envy who knows or simply because saying it gets you kudos amongst your equally ignorant, insecure and envious peer group.phuketrichard wrote:why do expats in Cambodia hate expats from Pattaya?
well here is what happened in only a few hours there.
British Man fall to his death at Pattaya Hilton Hotel
PATTAYA: -- In the early hours of Thursday, Police and medics were called to the Pattaya Hilton Hotel, situated above Central Festival Pattaya Beach, to investigate reports of a British Man who had fallen from a high floor onto a 2nd floor balcony.
British Man found dead in South Pattaya Apartment
PATTAYA: -- Pattaya Tourist Police Officers were called to an apartment complex in South Pattaya on Thursday Morning following the discovery of a decomposing body of a room occupant.
Woman claims sexual assault by Middle-Eastern Man she met on Pattaya Beach
PATTAYA: -- On Thursday Afternoon a 27 year old Thai Woman made a complaint at Pattaya Police station of sexual assault by a Middle-Eastern Man she thinks was Iranian.
Cases 1 and 3 are most likely holiday makers who are not what I would call expatriates . If Cambodia had anything like the number of tourist numbers Pattaya has you would see an equally exponential rise in the number of foreign deaths, drugs quite possibly being the biggie. This has clearly been the case so far this year in Cambodia as tourist numbers increase so do deaths.
Case 2 was an old boy dying of natural causes - why is that a negative reflection on Pattaya ?
I came back to Pattaya yesterday after 4 months in Cambodia and it's changed massively, please click on the link and you'll better understand why.
Yes sir, I can boogie, I can boogie, boogie, boogie all night long.

Maybe they're happy to have a few beers looking at the beautiful sunset and the ladies in bikini's just like you. Nothing wrong with that, live and let live we're all guests.Sohi wrote:good I hope they fuck off and tell all their mates not to bother comingfrank lee bent wrote:i think sihanoukville will see an influx of long term visa runners from pattaya.

Everywhere is close to everywhere else, so you rarely have to pay more then $1 for a moto ride. Very little traffic. Many bars of all persuasions. Great, cheap food everywhere, but particularly on the Hill. Cheap accommodation. Cheap alcohol. Good company ( if you choose your friends wisely of course!). The beaches. The Islands. The waterfall. If you gamble - the casino's, 9 in town I believe. Only 4 hrs to Phnom Penh if you crave some city insanity.
That's my take on the place anyway. After 2 years here I still love it and have no intentions of moving any where. It does tend to polarise people though, you either tend to love it or hate it.

I like Sihanoukville, and have nothing against Pattaya expats at all.
I am sure all the business people would like to see a few more visitors.
