In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

yep. things are real bad in the phillipines in mindanao as well, and also never gets reported on muchSoi Dog wrote:^ 1) Just as with the Syria situation, where people are being killed continuously every day for years with no end in sight, you become numb to it. It almost stops being news. Big events still get a headline, but the death or injury count has to be pretty high in an attack to get much attention these days.
2) I'm not so sure the bulk of Thai people feel very connected or patriotic about their countrymen in the restive southern regions. Plus, the violence has yet to affect the rest of the country, so out of sight...out of mind. And for quite a while now, they have other prominent problems drawing away media attention.
44 police commandos were killed in a botched raid there http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-01-29/p ... id/6055900
